Book001 - Handgonnes in the Middle Ages: A Short History and Manual by George R. Paczolt - $6.00 - With The Compleat Musketeer not available, I offer the above title as a replacement. Written for the SCA as a Compleat Anachronist pamphlet, this contains all firearms information that was in The Compleat Musketeer, plus quite a bit more on pre- matchlock weapons, but does not have the section on making the uniform coat and breeches. For $2.00 less than The Compleat Musketeer, it contains quite a bit more information.
Book004 - The First and Second Booke of Ballads and Songs. by Samuel Piper, Musician - $20.00 - This is a very extensive songbook, collected and printed by Steve Hendricks (Samuel Piper is his re-enactment persona), of songs from 1550 through 1650. Its actually two books, both The First Booke and The Second Booke bound together, containing songs by Campion, Johnson, Rosseter, et. al. scored in four parts. The volume is 162 pages, soft cover and spiral bound and wonderful for string and/or woodwind quartets and other period music groups.
Book005 - John Playford, The English Dancing Master
by Samuel Piper, Musician - $20.00 - Playford has been revised and expanded
with 50% more information. This is the second volume by Steve Hendricks
containing 89 pages of dance songs scored in four parts. Once
again, were talking soft cover and spiral bound, with excellent print
quality - this isnt just some bad photocopies of old manuscripts like
Ive been forced to carry in past years. Im very impressed
with this gentlemans line and look forward to carrying more of his
work as the season progresses.
